Biographical Info
Pete Chronis is a career CISO with more than 20 years of experience using technology to manage IT, privacy, compliance, fraud, and business continuity risk for technology, retail, media, and financial services companies. Most recently as EVP, Chief Information Security Officer of Paramount, formerly ViacomCBS ($29B in revenue). Pete led the integration of the security program after the company’s merger (Viacom - Comedy Central, MTV; CBS Broadcast Network; Paramount Studios; Simon & Schuster) and during its transformation to a cloud centric, global streaming provider. He was Managing Director of Eonia Group, a boutique technology consulting practice specializing in post-breach cybersecurity transformations. He also helped hone business strategy for several cybersecurity unicorns while leading Eonia’s cybersecurity start-up consulting practice and advised several high-profile technology associations focused on improving cybersecurity across the entire technology ecosystem. He was the inaugural CISO and established information security programs at Warner Media ($35B in revenue), its subsidiary Turner Broadcasting ($13B in revenue), and EarthLink ($3B in revenue). Prior to his CISO roles, Pete led the development of sophisticated fraud detection platforms for Lynk Systems, an innovative financial services tech startup acquired by the Royal Bank of Scotland in 2004 for $550M. A frequent technology speaker, writer and security thought leader, Pete was named Information Security Leader of the Year by the Technology Executive Network and his team was recently honored with CSO Magazine’s CSO50 and OneTrust’s Best Global Privacy Program awards. His 2018 book The Cyber Conundrum explores the need for a national cybersecurity “moonshot.†His photo book titled Hidden Lessons from History was released in October 2020.
